A budding independent artist, Akanksha Grover is shedding the typical notions of how the industry perceives a musician. As Indian listeners are inclined towards Bollywood, Western and even Korean music now, Akanksha is a rarity who is putting her musical skills and knowledge to bring the old-world charm of Indian classical music baithaks back.

Her love affair with music started at an incredibly young age of seven, her first role model being her mother. Akanksha enjoyed listening to her mother singing bhajans every day which intrigued her to sing along with her. This innocent mother-daughter everyday moment eventually paved the path for her undying love for music. Her mother felt that she had the potential and enrolled her to keyboard home tuition classes wherein she continued to learn for 2 years. In her school, she was always the first choice of teachers for any sort of musical performance.

Her musical journey got a slight push when she was in 6 th standard, wherein she met her first guru who taught her many musical nuisances for the next 6 years. These years helped Akanksha to dwell deeper into classical music. Alongside, Akanksha kept on winning many city competitions such as Faridabad Idol, Voice of Faridabad and many more. For three years, while pursuing her graduation in B.Com from Kirori Mal College, she continued demonstrating her skills as part of the college music society- MUSOC. However, she wasn’t able to learn music professionally during these years. Although she never wanted to pursue this course but still completed her education to her parent's wishes. She eventually decided to pursue her Master in Hindustani Classical Music Vocals that turned out to be a landmark decision in her life. She met her now Guru with whom she has been learning for more than 6 years currently.

Akanksha has been the flagbearer of bringing back the long-forgotten concept of Baithak to the current generation. Baithak by Akanksha is an intimate and interactive musical show with a maximum of 50-60 attendees. The show focuses on music and highly interactive communication between the artist and the audience. In a short span of a few months only, she has performed multiple shows across different cities in the country. She has successfully created a niche for her music through her soulful performances in a hyper-competitive environment.

Akanksha believes in spreading her music education to the ones who are equally interested and invested to take the legacy ahead. She has been tutoring many talented students and aims to open her own offline and online institute to teach music.

A self-acclaimed animal lover, Akanksha loves doing road trips wherein she will drive with her favourite travel partner i.e., her dog, Olive to picturesque mountains or in nature. She enjoys playing a variety of sports and doing art and craft in her free time.
